Women’s Health – Iota Gamma Omega Chapter

Target 2: Women's Healthcare and Wellness

Alpha Kappa Alpha will continue to raise community awareness of critical health issues impacting African American women. The primary focuses will be breast cancer awareness and prevention, heart health, nutrition and wellness, and care for the caregivers.

Iota Gamma Omega has offered programs to provide health literacy such as Horticultural Therapy, the need for self-care, healthy cooking classes, and cancer awareness. The chapter has also participated in NBC 4 Virtual Health Expo to increase access to affordable insurance in Prince George’s County, facilitated discussion on Advance Directives, and provided valuable caregiving tips and resources to help support caregivers needs.
