As we are all aware, our American Democracy is under attack! And, every American should be on notice that now is not the time to be silent. We each have a moral responsibility as an American citizen, take notice, and take action, whether big or small, to do our part to ensure our freedoms and rights, as written and not diminished or taken away altogether. As Dr. Martin Luther King once said, “The time is always right to do what is right.” So while our freedoms of speech, choice, and rights to vote are being challenged daily, NOW is the time to stand up, do what is right and make our voices heard. As members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated^® we encourage you to join us by staying woke, and not sleeping on the daily actions being taken to take these freedoms and rights from us at the local, state, and national levels. Please join us in collectively doing our part to hold our elected officials accountable to their constituents that elected them to represent our will and not theirs. Because in the words of the former Maryland Senator, Barbara Mikulski, “Each of us can make a difference. Together we can make change.”
