Welcome to the “Incredible” Iota Gamma Omega Chapter!
As President of this “Incredible” chapter, I am extremely proud to represent the 500+ members of our organization. We are proud to be a large, loving and intergenerational chapter. We have a warm spirit and big heart for service. If you are new to the area, or if you are looking for a chapter to reactivate, please visit us! Our chapter meetings are held at 10:00 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month (except July and August) at Charles Herbert Flowers High School, 10001 Ardwick Ardmore Rd, Springdale, MD 20774. Come early to enjoy our Soror Café, which begins at 9:00 a.m.
Over the last 44 years, Iota Gamma Omega has made a significant impact by providing much needed services to the citizens of Prince George’s County, filling educational and social gaps created by a changing economic environment. We take our service to the community very seriously, and our love for the community is evident in the work we do. We seek to meet the needs of our fellow citizens on many different levels, and each member is challenged every year to provide a minimum 100 hours of service to the community. Iota Gamma Omega members serve in a variety of ways: tutoring, providing scholarships, mentoring youth, providing social development programs, encouraging healthy lifestyles through health education and sizeable contributions to medical research organizations, supporting families in need through our Shoe Bank and clothing closets, strengthening linkages in the community by working with the elderly residents of a rehabilitation center. We are also enhancing our fundraising efforts by garnering increased support from current and new corporate partners.
This year, we will continue to focus on providing “Incredible Service” to the citizens of Prince George’s County, Maryland. We will do our utmost to educate, empower and change the lives of generations to come. Through the collective and collaborative efforts of our fellow community organizations, families and government, we strive to provide a better environment for our children.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in the name of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and I look forward to making an “Incredible Impact” on our community and our members. We are blessed to have some of the most talented, accomplished and giving women in the metropolitan area who are committed to making a difference.
I sincerely and wholeheartedly thank the members of the Iota Gamma Omega Chapter and our supporters for believing in the mission and for having the insight to believe that what we do will impact generations to come.
Sisterly yours in Service to All Mankind,
Deidre N. Jackson
